Frankel slays field in Royal Ascot opener

2012, June 19
Frankel romped home with the ease that only a true champion can ever display in Royal Ascot’s curtain raiser, the Queen Anne Stakes.

The world’s highest rated racehorse (currently 138) powered home by 11 lengths and a neck from Excelebration to the delight of his legions of fans to maintain his unbeaten record - now 11 out of 11.

The superlatives used to describe Frankel’s performance were many but trainer Sir Henry Cecil summed the performance of his wonderhorse up when he agreed that his charge had performed as expected.

The Aiden O’Brien trained Excelebration had once again, for the fifth time, to settle for a view of Frankel’s hooves as Tom Queally pressed Frankel’s accelerator button.
